For more than 10 years, Dr João Botto has dedicated himself exclusively to implant treatments, specifically the total recovery of jaws with fixed teeth on the same day – treatments with a high level of impact on the patient’s life, both physically and above all psychologically. The advanced techniques used in these cases make it possible to resolve the vast majority of cases, even in situations of severe bone absence. He has a post-graduate qualification in Advanced Periodontology, enabling him to perform plastic gum surgery (gum graft surgery) using micro-surgery techniques to cover the roots of teeth. He has also deepened his knowledge in the area of bone grafting (autologous bone – ‘native’ / ‘from the person’ – and with biomaterials), having done various surgical trainings since 2012. I was born in Lisbon in 1984. I’m a humanist, passionate about family, friends and surfing. As a child I realised that ‘when I grew up’ I would be involved in the health sector. I entered the Faculty of Dental Medicine at the University of Lisbon in 2003. I realised during the course that I had made the right choice, as I was preparing myself for a profession that blends scientific intellectual stimulation with surgical art and skill on a daily basis. A profession that would propel me in my incessant search for the beauty of the smile and the emotional well-being of patients. From an early age, I wanted to sub-specialise and deepen my knowledge of techniques that would allow me to restore teeth in the most ‘natural’ way possible, to recover bone mass and gum tissue that had been lost due to disease or trauma. 2015 was a remarkable year. I joined one of the world’s leading clinics, where I made my career both nationally (All-on-4® surgery and trainer) and internationally, in Italy and the UK (All-on-4® surgery and trainer). Now, independently, I could rebuild countless smiles, helping to restore the fragile self-esteem of many people across Europe. I completed the International Clinical Periodontology Postgraduate Programme at the Egas Moniz University Institute in 2019. In the same year, I underwent Surgical Training in advanced bone graft surgery in Heidelberg, Germany. Keeping up to date and searching for knowledge and differentiating techniques, which are reflected in the final results of treatments and consequently in the quality of the treatment.
